    Description

This listing is for an old
    wooden plate from
    interwar
    period
    Poland
ca. 1932 from Zakopane. As you may already know,
    Zakopane is
well known for its wood carvings and
the Tatra mountains where you can find beautiful rock loving mountain flowers
growing at high altitudes and in the hills. Those are the flowers carved
    into the plate. .
If not for it saying 'Zakopane'  right on it, you could easily mistake this for Austrian or German. And that would not be far off as up until 1918,  Zakophane was
for a long time part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire.
In 1939 leading up to WW2, it was annexed to Germany.
Plate shows its age with worn finish but no cracks or damage.
    The backside once had a
hook or two and/or a wire for wall hanging that
left some small holes where that was.
    Measures approximately 11 1/2" diameter.
